Los Angeles 2026 World Cup holds poster design competition

On October 15, the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee invited local artists and designers to participate in the official regional poster design competition for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. KTLA 5 reported that the committee is calling on all creative individuals aged 18 and over to get involved. They described the event as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” collaborating with the Annenberg Foundation to promote the contest among emerging designers and artists in Los Angeles County.

In a press release issued on the same day, the committee stated, “This public poster competition aims to generate excitement around the largest single-sport event in history and highlight the diverse creative talents within Los Angeles, a leading region for soccer in North America.” The release further emphasized Los Angeles’s deep connection to the North American soccer narrative, citing its role in hosting major global sporting events, including the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, making it one of the key host cities for the upcoming 2026 tournament.

The 2026 World Cup will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with eight matches scheduled to be held at SoFi Stadium, including the first and third group stage games for the U.S. Men’s National Team, along with three additional group stage matches, two knockout matches, and one quarter-final match.

The competition is open to all residents aged 18 and older, with each participant allowed to submit one entry. The grand prize for the winner is set at $20,000, along with $2,500 for each of the three finalists. The competition formally began at 8 a.m. on October 15 and will run until November 17.
