Experts and scholars from many countries gathered in Beijing to explore cutting-edge issues in global education reform
On October 25, a reporter from China News Service learned that the “8th World Comparative Education Forum and International Symposium on Education Reform and Human Development 2024” recently took place at Beijing Normal University. Over 300 experts and scholars from more than ten countries gathered to discuss cutting-edge issues surrounding global education reform.
The theme of this year’s forum was “Social Change and the Future of Education.” Co-hosted by the Institute of International and Comparative Education and the International Education Research Center at Beijing Normal University, the event featured 12 keynote speeches, 2 roundtable discussions, and 54 parallel sessions.
Experts in attendance highlighted that with the acceleration of globalization, technological advancements, and social transformation, addressing the changes in education presents both significant challenges and opportunities for educators worldwide.
Throughout the forum, participants exchanged insights on topics such as “Ecological Justice and Education Reform,” “Digital Transformation and Education Transition,” “Industrial Upgrading and Education Innovation,” “Population Changes and Education Responses,” “The Belt and Road Initiative and High-Level Educational Openness,” and “Innovations in Comparative Education Theory and Paradigm Shifts.”
Since its inception in 2002, the World Comparative Education Forum has aimed to create a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences. Its goal is to provide new perspectives on educational models that can adapt to the demands of future societies.
