As 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Doraemon comic series, originally published in 1974, it’s also a significant year for the characters, with Nobita set to turn 60 and Doraemon celebrating his 88th birthday.
In celebration of this milestone, Jie Li Publishing is introducing an official picture book series titled “Doraemon Children’s Picture Books,” which will hit the shelves this October.
The series consists of four delightful titles: “Doraemon’s Amazing Pocket,” “Eating Shaved Ice on the Iceberg,” “Building a Subway for Dad,” and “Eating Music with the Recording Flower.” This collection is carefully curated from the many works by Fujiko Fujio, the creator of Doraemon, and features adaptations by Mina Kawabe, a writer for the Doraemon animated series, alongside illustrations by artist Hiromi Tsuboi.
Each book focuses on themes relevant to children’s growth, blending engaging narratives with valuable lessons. Through the stories of Doraemon, readers will learn about courage, justice, friendship, kindness, and cooperation. Moreover, the books include interactive games like “Find It” and “Maze Walking,” allowing children to enjoy a playful reading experience.
