Guangzhou Nansha attracts global investment and intelligence, winning favor from domestic and foreign merchants

On October 19, in Guangzhou, the NanSha Global Investment and Talent Conference showcased a variety of innovative products and achievements, captivating the attention of domestic and international investors alike. Notable displays included a digital bionic system that recreates the past appearances of streets, commercial launch vehicles exploring the universe, and a range of nutritious organic fruits and vegetables.

The conference drew over 1,400 attendees, including scholars, experts, business representatives, and tech talent from both home and abroad. Among the participants were representatives from 35 Fortune 500 companies, 42 foreign enterprises, 16 foreign trade associations, and 15 commerce associations from Hong Kong and Macau.

“We are committed to ensuring that every enterprise and talent team can find suitable development opportunities in NanSha,” said Liu Wei, a member of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the NanSha District Committee. “This conference represents a mutual engagement between NanSha and entrepreneurs and scientists, as well as a two-way collaboration between technology and industry.”

During the conference, NanSha celebrated a fruitful season for industrial investment, leading to the signing of 116 projects with a total investment of 121.7 billion yuan and projected revenue of 253.5 billion yuan.

Looking ahead, NanSha plans to release a substantial amount of industrial land resources, with 9,000 acres available within three months and 15,000 acres within six months. Additionally, NanSha aims to develop a pilot zone for industrial integration in the Greater Bay Area, collaborating actively with cities like Shenzhen and Hong Kong to attract more enterprises with capital and projects.

To better inform companies and talent about investment opportunities in NanSha, the region launched an industrial map at the conference, focusing on a dual approach of “industrial parks + industrial zones.” A total of 20 unique industrial parks were introduced, 15 of which are geared toward advanced manufacturing, catching the eye of both domestic and international attendees.

As the main battleground for economic development, NanSha’s various districts have emerged as key players in attracting projects, featuring a dedicated exhibition space showcasing the unique characteristics and available resources of ten districts, including products that highlight local industrial development.

“We are collaborating with Hong Kong institutions to establish industrial bases and provide various policy supports for businesses looking to develop here,” said Xiao Songyue, Deputy Director of Dagang Town in NanSha. This industrial base not only includes workshops but also housing, healthcare, and leisure facilities to support both business operations and employee life.

In addition to favorable policies, the accessibility of NanSha’s transportation networks within the Greater Bay Area has attracted interest. “High-speed trains and ferries connect NanSha to Hong Kong, making travel very convenient,” remarked Li Pengcheng, a doctoral student at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), noting that the high-speed train ride from NanSha to Hong Kong takes just one hour.

Notably, the conference featured esteemed scholars such as Guo Renzhong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, who was invited to serve as a technology development consultant for NanSha Science City. A total of 17 experts, including Long Guowen, Executive Chairman of the Guangdong Manufacturing Association, were appointed as industry development advisors. Their expertise and forward-thinking strategies are set to drive innovative advancements and industrial upgrades in NanSha.

“I have strong confidence in NanSha and believe it represents the future of development in the Greater Bay Area,” Guo Renzhong stated. Located at the geometric center of the Greater Bay Area, NanSha boasts favorable development conditions, and the completion of the Shen-Zhong channel further enhances its advantageous location.

Currently, NanSha’s talent policies are accelerating their alignment with international standards, aiming to ensure that a diverse range of talents are attracted, retained, and thrive within the region.

“As a witness to the transformation of this land from desolation to prosperity, I look forward to more exceptional talents coming to NanSha, integrating into the community and injecting new vitality into this hopeful land,” expressed Ho Chun-hua, CEO of the Hong Kong Ho Ying-tung Group.
