Ministry of Foreign Affairs- Arrangements have been made for the safe evacuation of two batches of 215 Chinese citizens from Lebanon
During a regular press conference on October 8th, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the media regarding the situation in Lebanon.
A reporter asked about recent reports that China had successfully evacuated its citizens from Lebanon in two batches and inquired whether the evacuation efforts had been completed, seeking additional details about the current situation.
Mao Ning responded by stating that, following the escalation of tensions in Lebanon, the Chinese government has been actively implementing the key directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping. She noted that the Foreign Ministry has been closely coordinating with the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Administration, and Chinese embassies in Lebanon and Cyprus to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens. The government has swiftly initiated evacuation actions.
Thanks to these concerted efforts, two batches of evacuees totaling 215 Chinese citizens have safely left Lebanon via ship and charter flights. This group included three residents from Hong Kong and one individual from Taiwan. Mao expressed gratitude to China International Airlines, COSCO Shipping Group, and the Zhejiang Ningbo “Zhongmeng Aviation Alliance” for their proactive support and involvement in the evacuation process.
Mao also underscored that the situation in Lebanon remains complex and serious. The Chinese embassy in Lebanon continues to operate on the ground, providing guidance and assistance to the few Chinese citizens still in the country and helping them implement safety measures to protect themselves.
