The 25th annual gathering of the Southern California Alumni Association of Jianguo High School is set to take place on Saturday, October 26, at 6 PM at the Hilton Hotel in San Gabriel. Event organizer Luo Zailing highlights several exciting features of this year’s meeting and invites alumni to join in the festivities.
Luo shared that one of the key highlights will be the transfer of presidential duties from the outgoing president, Zhang Hu, to the newly elected president, Miu Zhiyuan. Additionally, the alumni association will award scholarships as part of its sustainable Golden Brick Project, granting $1,000 each to four students, including children of Jianguo alumni and alumni association members, from both Taiwan and the local community.
Another standout event will be a presentation on kidney protection by Dr. Chen Weizuo, a distinguished alumnus and a renowned authority at a major American hospital. Dr. Chen holds the patent for one of the most advanced dialysis machines in the world. The evening will also feature a Halloween costume contest, with exciting prizes that include two airline tickets and a raffle for cash.
Luo noted that the alumni association was established 25 years ago and currently has over 100 members. The first president was Wu Nanfeng, and Luo has served as president for two terms. Since its inception, the association has focused on connecting alumni and other community groups, contributing to community service, hosting educational talks, and organizing charitable donations.
