Thailand floods, reporter conducts -immersive- interview with only face exposed

Recently, Thailand has been grappling with severe flooding, where water levels have risen above the necks of adults in many areas. In a striking video that has gone viral, a journalist conducted an interview while wading through the floodwaters, remaining remarkably composed despite the extreme conditions.

The monsoon season in Thailand typically runs from June to October, bringing heavy and persistent rainfall. Recent storms have led to widespread inundation, with some regions experiencing levee breaches that resulted in rapid flooding. Footage shared by Thailand’s Channel 8 in late August captures the moment when floodwaters surged into nearby homes within just 15 minutes, leaving residents in dire circumstances.

In the video, the reporter is seen standing in water that nearly submerges him, microphone raised, as he interviews a local man. The interviewee appears surprisingly calm, explaining that he has about 11,200 square meters of rice fields that were due for harvest in 20 days—only to be caught off guard by the sudden flood.

The dialogue between them seems so relaxed that it’s hard to believe they are surrounded by life-threatening floodwaters. Many viewers took to social media, expressing their admiration for the resilient Thai spirit, with comments like “Thailand is so chill,” and “immersive reporting.” Some even humorously noted the sound of rushing water in the background, suggesting the media has tapped into the secret sauce for generating viewer engagement.
