Liuzhou, Guangxi, a long-established industrial city, cultivates intelligent terminal and robot industries
On October 27, Liuzhou City in Guangxi held a conference focused on the development of the smart terminal and robotics industry, aiming to revitalize traditional industries and cultivate new productive forces tailored to local conditions. The goal is to establish the smart terminal and robotics sector as a new pillar of Liuzhou’s economy.
As a major industrial hub in Southwest China, Liuzhou’s traditional backbone industries have been automotive, steel, and machinery. Today, the city is embracing intelligent innovation to drive new industrialization efforts, foster modern manufacturing, and ensure high-quality growth in the smart terminal and robotics fields.
During the event, the Liuzhou Smart Terminal and Robotics Industry Technology Research Institute and the Liuzhou Robotics Industry Aftermarket Service Center were inaugurated, along with a significant number of project signings. Specifically, 13 technology cooperation projects, 23 industrial collaboration agreements, and 7 financial cooperation agreements were finalized.
Zhou Ji, Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, emphasized that traditional manufacturing can transition to high-end industries through technological upgrades. For example, Liuzhou’s traditional automotive sector can evolve into a high-end manufacturing entity through digitization, networking, and intelligent enhancements. The key to developing a cluster for the smart terminal and robotics industries in Liuzhou lies in deeply integrating products, production, and services.
At the conference’s exhibition area dedicated to smart terminals and robotics applications, a robotic dog drew significant attention from the audience.
Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, noted that we have entered an era of large-scale scientific development, with technology innovation more active and concentrated than ever. Liuzhou’s commitment to industrial development is evident, having introduced measures to promote the robotics industry as early as 2019. The city boasts a strong industrial foundation, with technical know-how in metal processing and electronic manufacturing, providing a solid synergy for advancing the smart terminal and robotics sectors. Furthermore, Liuzhou’s vocational education and training system is well-established, ensuring a robust supply of highly skilled engineering and technical talent for industrial growth.
In recent years, Liuzhou has strategically laid out plans for the smart terminal and robotics industry through various measures such as policy guidance, project support, and platform construction. These efforts aim to stimulate industrial clustering and innovation. Currently, Liuzhou has achieved collaborative development across the entire industrial chain, mastering autonomous core technologies, key components, and comprehensive solutions for Industry 4.0 in the robotics field. The city has developed over 50 models across six series of robotic products, notably excelling in production line integration in the automotive and machinery sectors.
