Chinese female journalist marries cryptocurrency billionaire, her husband’s net worth is second only to Zhao Changpeng_1

In a recent post on social media, Brian Armstrong, the co-founder of Coinbase, announced his marriage to Angela Meng, a Chinese-American woman. Growing up in Beijing, Angela moved to Los Angeles at the age of 11 and has previously worked as a reporter for the South China Morning Post and Reuters in Beijing.

On October 9, Armstrong shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Last weekend, I married my long-time partner and best friend, Angela Meng. I can’t wait to start this wonderful new life with her.”

Brian Armstrong is a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency industry, with Forbes estimating his net worth at around $11 billion, making him one of the wealthiest individuals in this space, second only to Binance’s founder Changpeng Zhao, who has a net worth of approximately $33 billion.

According to reports from various outlets including Benzinga, ChainCatcher, and Sina, Angela’s background is compelling. After migrating to Los Angeles with her parents, she shared a home with two other Chinese families, experiencing the challenges that many first-generation immigrants face. Angela, who graduated from UCLA, has a colorful career history, which includes her roles as a reporter, model for Elite Model Management and LA Models, and working at Lazard, a prominent Wall Street investment bank.

Her journalism career facilitated her entry into American society, allowing her to connect with influential circles, while her rich personal experiences have led her to pursue writing as well. The couple’s wedding has sparked interest about Angela’s future career path, with many speculating whether she will continue in her field or focus on supporting her husband’s endeavors.

Armstrong is also recognized for his outspoken views on political issues, advocating for bipartisan cooperation in regulating cryptocurrencies. Earlier this year, he emphasized that cryptocurrency is a nonpartisan issue with support from both sides of the political aisle during a discussion about the shifting political landscape.

A strong advocate for the cryptocurrency industry, Armstrong has faced regulatory pressure from the SEC but continues to support innovation, such as during Uniswap’s scrutiny. He’s publicly allied with the Stand with Crypto Alliance, promoting the legitimacy and growth of the crypto sector. With the push for a Bitcoin ETF, Coinbase is experiencing record growth, with trading volume and user activity hitting all-time highs. Statistics indicate that about 13 out of every 100 people in the U.S. utilize Coinbase for their transactions.
