On October 20th, Han Zheng, Vice President of China and special representative of President Xi Jinping, attended the inauguration ceremony of Indonesia’s newly elected President, Prabowo Subianto, in Jakarta. During the visit, Han Zheng conveyed heartfelt congratulations and best wishes from President Xi to President Prabowo.

Han Zheng highlighted that President Prabowo’s immediate visit to China after his election underscores a deep friendship with China and a strong commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. He noted that President Xi’s meeting with President Prabowo resulted in important consensus on further strengthening cooperation between the two nations. Han Zheng remarked that in his inaugural speech, President Prabowo presented several key initiatives—such as food independence and poverty alleviation—that align closely with Xi Jinping’s people-centered development philosophy.

China is committed to supporting President Prabowo and his new administration, with strong confidence that under his leadership, Indonesia will achieve substantial progress in national development. Han Zheng expressed China’s eagerness to work with Indonesia to elevate the China-Indonesia community of shared destiny, contributing to regional peace and stability and promoting global development.

In terms of future development in China-Indonesia relations, Han Zheng proposed three suggestions. First, to build high-level strategic mutual trust, maintaining steadfast support on issues of core interests and major concerns. Second, to deepen comprehensive win-win cooperation, ensuring that the benefits of collaboration reach a wider population. Third, to engage in closer international cooperation, steering global governance toward more just and equitable outcomes.

In response, President Prabowo extended his heartfelt gratitude and warm regards to President Xi through Han Zheng. He warmly welcomed Vice President Han as President Xi’s special representative at his inauguration. Prabowo affirmed that China is a significant global power and a strong partner for Indonesia. He emphasized that the new Indonesian government places great importance on developing relations with China and aims to continue the friendly policies of former President Joko Widodo. He expressed a desire to further deepen mutual support and beneficial cooperation between the two nations, enhancing coordination on international and regional affairs to achieve greater development in their bilateral relationship.
