On October 13, a seminar titled “Inheriting Dong Biwu’s Legal Thought and Promoting the Rule of Law” was held in Beijing alongside the launch of the new publication, “Research on Dong Biwu’s Legal Thought.” The event brought together numerous legal scholars and professionals to discuss the development and inheritance of the legal theories rooted in socialism with Chinese characteristics. This seminar was organized by the Dong Biwu Legal Thought (Theories of the Rule of Law with Chinese Characteristics) Research Association under the Chinese Law Society.

At the event, experts noted that Dong Biwu’s legal thought embodies the ideals and practical experiences of legal construction under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. They emphasized the need to further advance legal practices and innovations as China embarks on a new journey of deepening reforms and promoting modernization in its unique context.

Wang Hongxiang, Secretary of the Chinese Law Society, highlighted the significance of studying Dong Biwu’s legal thought for understanding the historical trajectory of democratic and legal development in China. He called for an ongoing deepening of legal theory research to actively support the practice of the rule of law.

Chen Jiping, President of the Dong Biwu Legal Thought Research Association, stressed the importance of continuing research and scholarly exchanges concerning Dong Biwu’s legal thought and theories of the rule of law with Chinese characteristics. He also emphasized the need to nurture young legal professionals in this field.
