Drops of the Sea Fucoidan supports the health of the human mucosal immune system in the face of the monkey bean epidemic
In a recent interview, we delved into the rising concerns regarding the variant monkeypox outbreak, which the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared an “International Public Health Emergency.” This designation signifies the highest level of alert under the International Health Regulations for global pandemics.
Monkeypox, referred to as “Monkey Pox” in English, primarily spreads through close contact or conversation. Experts caution that the virus can enter the body via mucous membranes found in areas such as the mouth, nose, respiratory tract, intestinal lining, or urinary system, highlighting the importance of good hygiene practices. However, they also reassure us that the risk of infection remains low for individuals who do not plan to travel to Africa.
In light of these issues, Professor Yoshiyuki Miyazaki from Kyushu University recently unveiled pioneering research at the American Association of Immunologists (AAI) meeting, showcasing the role of fucoidan in enhancing the health of the body’s mucosal immune system. His studies focused on how fucoidan interacts with viral pneumonia, underlining its significance for respiratory mucosal immunity. Professor Miyazaki has previously discussed fucoidan’s benefits for oral and intestinal mucosal immunity, as well as its role in boosting the functionality of natural killer cells.
Fucoidan is a high-molecular polysaccharide derived from the slippery sections of brown seaweed. Researchers in Japan have discovered that high-molecular fucoidan substantially outperforms its low-molecular counterparts in immune support. In collaboration with the National University of Japan, the non-profit NPO Fucoidan Research Institute has conducted extensive research into the various bioactive properties of fucoidan, particularly its potential for post-illness recovery and its ability to enhance immune health to address concerns about the lingering effects of infections.
As the only fucoidan product approved by the Japan Health and Food Association (JHFA), it has achieved notable success, with annual sales in 45 countries over the past two decades, supported by rigorous tracking. Its immune health benefits have garnered a Japanese patent for immunological efficacy and recognition from Dr. Daisuke Tachikawa, a prominent medical expert in Japan.
Sea of Drops has carefully selected ingredients such as Okinawan sea lettuce, kelp spores, and Brazilian mushroom mycelium, employing precise scientific formulations to create a product that bolsters immune health support. Their latest offering is a limited-edition fucoidan formula that incorporates rare Kombu seaweed. This innovative blend, the result of seven years of research by Professor Yoshiyuki Miyazaki, aims to enhance antibody response regulation, making it suitable for long-term therapeutic use.
Furthermore, Sea of Drops is currently providing a complimentary powdered fucoidan supplement enriched with green tea extracts, celebrated for their antioxidant properties like polyphenols and theanine. This product has rapidly gained traction among consumers for its role in supporting everyday immune health.
