Dawen Fu is running for city councilor in District 1 of Asia City

On September 9, David Fu, a Chinese-American attorney, hosted a fundraising dinner as he campaigns for the Arcadia City Council’s District 1 seat. With a heartfelt commitment to serving the city, Fu emphasized his dedication to the community during the event, which was attended by numerous elected officials, community leaders, and prominent figures.

As a candidate for District 1, Fu has garnered significant endorsements from both the city’s Police Association and Firefighters Association. He also serves on the Arcadia Fire Department Foundation, highlighting his close ties to public safety. At the fundraiser, Fu praised the contributions of first responders to the city’s well-being.

Arcadia Mayor Tom Beck commended Fu for his community service spirit, expressing confidence in his leadership abilities. Councilmember Roger Cheng echoed these sentiments, noting his previous interactions with Fu, which revealed not only his extensive knowledge but also his sincere commitment to community service.

Over the past few decades, Fu has been deeply involved in community service, having held several prominent positions including Commissioner on the California Judicial Council and Chair of the California State Bar Nomination Evaluation Committee. Fu highlighted his experience working at high levels of government, understanding the importance of collaboration and respecting diverse opinions. His campaign for the District 1 seat focuses on uniting the community and listening to residents, aiming to make Arcadia a safe and prosperous place to live.

A graduate of UC Berkeley, Fu holds dual degrees in law and taxation. He is a successful small business owner and an experienced consultant and attorney. His campaign platform emphasizes public safety, crime prevention, and reducing homelessness. He promises to collaborate with the fire and police departments to maintain public safety if elected to the city council.

The fundraising event drew support from a wide array of guests, including California Assemblymember Stephen Choi, former Assemblymember Mike Eng, Arcadia Councilmember Bob Harbicht, former Walnut Mayor Lynn Shenk, and El Monte Mayor Jessica Ancona, among others.
