Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, an undocumented immigrant from Ecuador, is facing serious legal troubles after being indicted by a grand jury in Queens. The charges against him, announced by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz on September 26, could potentially lead to life imprisonment if he is convicted. The indictment stems from a disturbing incident that occurred on June 13, when Inga-Landi allegedly attacked two 13-year-old girls with a knife in Kissena Corridor Park.

DA Katz highlighted the severity of the charge of predatory sexual assault, describing it as one of the most serious accusations under New York law, crafted to protect vulnerable populations, particularly children. If convicted, Inga-Landi could face a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison.

Reports indicate that the attack took place around 3:30 PM, when Inga-Landi allegedly threatened the two girls with a knife. He is accused of binding their hands with shoelaces, covering their mouths with cloth, and forcibly stealing their cell phones before assaulting one of the victims and fleeing the scene.

The turning point came when a resident of Inga-Landi’s apartment building recognized him and alerted friends. Together, they tracked him down to a nearby grocery store. With the help of community members, they were able to restrain him by a telephone pole and contacted 911 for assistance.

Katz described the traumatic ordeal faced by the young victims, stating, “For these kids, playing in the park after school turned into a daytime horror. The defendant is accused of threatening these victims with a knife, forcing them into a wooded area, tying them up, and covering their mouths.”

Inga-Landi now faces a total of 16 charges, which include three counts of predatory sexual assault, first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree robbery, first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He has been in custody for several months and is set to return to court on November 12.
